The stone is Purple Mojave Turquoise from Kingman, Arizona. It is a composite stone made of scraps of Kingman Turquoise left over from making beads. some of it is dyed, some remains the natural color. These are then mixed with bronze or copper and resin, then formed into blocks under pressure. The bock is cut into slices, then the lapidaries cuts them into cabochons. It is a great use of left over turquoise, so nothing goes to wast. Plus-it just makes a pretty stone!
