UPDATE ON SILVER PRICING!

My last blog about rising silver prices now seems mild compared to what we’re seeing today. In September 2025 raw silver was under $50/oz (the sheet and wire I buy cost about 25–30% more). By Friday, January 30, 2025, silver closed at $103.19/oz, a dramatic jump that has taken many of us in the trade by surprise. This spike has forced numerous jewelers to rethink how to keep using the best materials while still making a sustainable living. I price my work to reflect its quality, my time, and the care I put into each piece, and I will never sell something I wouldn’t wear myself.

I want to assure you that I will continue to make the style of jewelry I love, I am also looking at alternative designs to help control costs to me and to you, my customers. I will be adding some smaller scale pieces to my collection, using less sterling but still have great style. I will be adding different metals such as bronze and copper to my work over the next months also.

Please remember that jewelry is an investment. Buy good quality jewelry that you love and will wear for years. Silver is a beautiful metal to work with and to wear as jewelry. I will continue to use sterling and fine silver in my work for as long as I can.

Tammy Helart

I was born and raised in Northern New Mexico and have always been inspired by the natural beauty that surrounded me.  I found myself always drawn to the creative side and chased my art.  I am a watercolorist, a seamstress, pianist, etc. Now I'm honing my craft as a jeweler and metal smith.  I seek out natural stones that exhibit something unique and beautiful. I combine them with sterling silver to create one of a kind pieces. My emphasis in the jewelry I make is always on the stones.
