How to care for your jewelry
Cleaning your jewelry
The safest way to clean your jewelry is to use the “least” of everything. Wiping with a soft damp cloth or a soft toothbrush may be all it needs. If the sterling silver has become discolored and dingy, use a silver polish cloth to clean only the silver (keep it away from any stones) and DO NOT dip the whole piece into some kind of “silver dip”. Quick way to ruin a stone (especially soft stones such as turquoise, pearls, etc.)
If you wear perfume, spray on before you put on your jewelry. The chemicals in aerosols can discolor stones over time. Store your jewelry pieces where they are not exposed to moisture which will promote tarnish. Also store each piece so that it is protected from other jewelry. Diamonds, and other hard gems can scratch softer stones, causing permanent damage.
